Domain of Rational Functions
Instructions
- This page includes exercises that you should attempt to solve yourself. You can check your answers and watch the videos explaining how to solve the exercises.
Concepts
- The domain of rational functions
- How to find any holes and vertical asymptotes of a rational function
Exercises
Directions: You should attempt to solve the problems first and then watch the video to see the solution.
- Find the domain of the following functions:
- \(f(x)=\dfrac{1}{x+2}\)
- \(f(x)=\dfrac{x-1}{x+5}\)
- Find the domain of the function \(f(x)=\dfrac{(x+1)}{(x+1)(x-4)}\)
- Find the holes and vertical asymptotes of the function \(f(x)=\dfrac{(x+1)}{(x+1)(x-4)}\)
- Find the domain of the function and any holes or vertical asymptotes: \(f(x)=\dfrac{x^2+x}{x^3+2x^2+x}\)
